The church was opened on the 28th September 1884. The associated blue stone manse was completed in the same year. The Land, church and manse were funded by the Chirnside family, with Thomas Chirnside laying the foundation stone on 5th February 1884. The initials 'T.C' (Thomas Chirnside) can be found on one arm of the weather vane on the steeple. The blue stone wall around the church, added in 1963, was sourced from William Leake's home and diary in Truganina.
