Azimuth Mark is located on a box culvert on the E side of Garrett Shortcut RD - 0.05 mi N of the intersection of E Mud Pike.
Details from the NGS datasheet for JW1229 relating to the AZ mark are as follows:
From 1967 recovery:
AZIMUTH MARK IS 0.05 MILE NORTH OF THE CROSSROAD, 23.3 FEET EAST OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF THE ROAD AND 0.6 FOOT NORTHEAST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. THE MARK IS A STANDARD DISK CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN TOP OF AN L SHAPED CULVERT AND STAMPED SUMMIT 1967.
From 1980 recovery:
AZIMUTH MARK NO. 1 IS A STANDARD US COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY (NOW NOS) DISK STAMPED---SUMMIT 1967---CEMENTED IN A DRILL HOLE IN THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF A CULVERT WHICH PROJECTS 1 FOOT. IT IS LOCATED 7.16 METERS (23.5 FEET) E FROM THE CENTER OF THE PAVED ROAD, 0.18 METER (0.6 FOOT) NE FROM A WITNESS POST, AND 0.15 METER (0.5 FOOT) N FROM THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE L SHAPED CULVERT.
TO REACH THE AZIMUTH MARK FROM THE STATION, GO NORTHERLY ON THE PAVED ROAD FOR 0.35 MILE TO THE CROSSROADS. CONTINUE NORTHERLY ON THE PAVED ROAD FOR 0.05 MILE TO THE MARK ON THE RIGHT.
