Planetron opened its doors in 1989. The opening was performed by astronaut Jerry Ross. Immediately Planetron was one of the largest info centers for astronomy and aerospace in The Netherlands.
The Zeiss-planetarium is placed in a dome measuring 15m in diameter, offering seats for 123 visitors. As the lights are dimmed in the hall, an almost realistic star sky becomes visible.
