New Brunswick highway web cameras are operated by the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. The cameras are part of the Department’s Road Weather Information System. Most are mounted on tall steel towers, pretty much all of which have weather sensors included on the tower. The sensors measure temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and wind direction and speed. The province has right around 50 web cameras, covering all the major routes in the province.
The webcam pic below is more or less real time and will update every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on conditions.
This webcam looks southwest down Highway 1 from atop its tower on the northwest side of the highway. The camera is about 20 kilometres southwest of Sussex and about 12 kilometres northeast of Hampton, NB. To the south, not quite visible in the photo, is the overpass for a railway looping around and over the highway.
