April 25, 1913 - July 31, 2013
Services for Miss Lucille Gimble, age 100, of Tyler are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 3, 2013, at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Bennie Portwood officiating. Interment will follow in New Harmony Cemetery. Miss Gimble died on Wednesday, July 31, 2013. She was born on April 25, 1913, in Smith County to James Francis "Frank" and Minnie Eugenia Stanley Gimble and was a lifelong resident of the Tyler, Smith County area. Miss Gimble retired from the Cotton Belt Railroad and was a Baptist. She is survived by her sister, Mrs. Josephine Gimble Parker, of Tyler; brothers, Eugene Gimble, of New Harmony, and Johnny Gimble and wife Barbara, of Dripping Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews.Family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to service Saturday at Caudle-Rutledge Funeral Home in Lindale. Memorials may be made to the Samaritan's Purse or The Salvation Army.

2013: An enormous category 4 tornado hits several cities in Oklahoma, including Oklahoma City, Moore, and Newcastle. Moore is hardest hit. The city's Plaza Towers Elementary School is flattened. At least 24 people are killed in the storm. The tornado, stretching about a mile wide, is on the ground for 40 minutes.
