Wonderful Memorial located on the front grounds of Kemptville Elementary School. The Memorial was erected after the end of World War I to honour those who served from Kemptville, South Gower and Oxford.
It features a Canadian soldier standing easy. He is fully equipped, but is not helmeted, signifying the cessation of hostilities, and the readiness to engage, if required.
The statue stands on a white granite block between two larger blocks with crosses carved on them.
The first line of Col John McRae's poem "In Flanders Fields is emblazoned above each cross.
The base of the soldier's block has the dedication for the Great War, World War II and Korea.
The Reverse of the monument has 14 World War I battle sites, plus "Afghanistan" and the name of Pte B. Williamson, the only local soldier KIA there.
