Schloss Westerholt is a moated castle located in the district Westerholt
in the city of Herten. It is the ancestral seat of the counts of Westerholt. This aristocratic family was first named in the year 1193.
Since the middle of the 14th century a fortified castle was mentioned at this point. But only the moats are reminiscent of the ancient castle.
Nowadays it is the home of a golfclub and a hotel.
