New Brunswick highway web cameras are operated by the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. The cameras are part of the Department’s Road Weather Information System. Most are mounted on tall steel towers, pretty much all of which have weather sensors included on the tower. The sensors measure temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and wind direction and speed. The province has right around 50 web cameras, covering all the major routes in the province.
The webcam pic below is more or less real time and will update every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on conditions.
Just south of this camera are a pair of roads heading east and west. The road west has a check station just off the highway and leads into the Veneer Sawmill. A guess would bee that the sawmill specializes in producing veneers, or possibly produced veneer in the past, giving the community its name. The camera, on the west side of the highay, looks north toward the town of San Quentin, 32 kilometres away.
