The village of Mendooran has a wide range of community facilities with the pool (closed for the Winter season) having a 25 metre pool & two smaller pools for young children.

The official opening plaque states: These swimming baths were officially opened by Hon. Davis Hughes, M.L.A. Minister for Public Works on 10th March 1967.

Davis Hughes was born in 1910 & died in 2003. A member of the Country Party he was elected to the NSW Legislative Assembly in 1950 & served two terms. He became minister for Public Works under the Askin Government in 1965. The Sydney Opera House was completed during his term in office. He was knighted in 1975.
