New Brunswick highway webcameras are operated by the New Brunswick Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. The cameras are part of the Department’s Road Weather Information System. Most are mounted on tall steel towers, pretty much all of which have weather sensors included on the tower. The sensors measure temperature, humidity, barometric pressure and wind direction and speed. The province has right around 50 web cameras, covering all the major routes in the province.
The webcam pic below is more or less real time and will update every 15 to 30 minutes, depending on conditions.
This camera stands on the northwest side of Highway 113, across the bridge from Shippagan, looking southwest toward the bridge. The camera is actually on an island, Lameque Island. The bridge, about a kilometre in length, connects the island with the mainland. The bridge is mostly filled causeway, with a lift bridge near the south end to allow ships to pass under.
