There was originally a Saint-Florentin collegiate in the castle: this is where, according to his will, that Leonardo da Vinci was buried.
The collegiate church was destroyed in 1807, and it was in 1863 that his alleged remains found during excavations, were transferred to the Saint-Hubert Chapel. His grave was rebuilt from 1934 to 1936 by the sculptor Francis La Monaca.
