I recovered this U.S. Coast & Geodetic Survey benchmark from 1954 in good condition. This disk is also listed on a topography map as 'BM 4097'. The NGS datasheet info is adequate for station recovery with the exception that the painted sign mentioned in the datasheet is no longer there. My more accurate coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

DESCRIBED BY COAST AND GEODETIC SURVEY 1954 13.8 MI SE FROM DORRIS. 9.7 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG A GRADED ROAD FROM THE SOUTHERN PACIFIC COMPANY RAILROAD STATION AT DORRIS, THENCE 4.1 MILES SOUTHEAST ALONG A GRADED ROAD, 0.1 MILE SOUTH OF A SMALL WOOD BULIDING ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE ROAD, AT THE EAST FOOT OF BIG TABLELAND AND BELOW A ROCKY POINT ON THE MOUNTAIN, IN THE TOP OF THE APPROXIMATE CENTER OF A 10- BY 8-FOOT BOULDER PROJECTING 3 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND, 58 1/2 FEET WEST OF AND ACROSS THE ROAD FROM A WHITE PAINTED NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE SIGN POST, 27 1/2 FEET WEST OF THE CENTER LINE OF THE ROAD, AND ABOUT 5 FEET HIGHER THAN THE ROAD.
