I recovered this National Geodetic Survey Azimuth Mark from 1976 in good condition. This AZ mark replaces the original AZ mark from 1945 and is part of the LAIDLAW series of marks located on Laidlaw Butte. The NGS datasheet description to recover this AZ mark is adequate for station recovery. My posted coordinates will place you very close to this mark.

THE AZIMUTH MARK, STAMPED LAIDLAW 1945 AZ 2 1976, IS A STANDARD DISK SET IN A 10-INCH SQUARE CONCRETE MONUMENT THAT PROJECTS 2-INCHES, 50 FEET NORTH OF THE CENTER OF U.S. HIGHWAY 20, 47 FEET EAST OF THE CENTER OF GERKING MKT ROAD, AND 1 FOOT WEST OF A METAL WITNESS POST. AIRLINE DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FROM NEAREST TOWN 7 MILES NORTHWEST OF BEND.
