The First Presbyterian Church of Lawton is significant because it is the very first church in Lawton and the first brick building in Lawton built in 1902, only a year after Lawton was formed. In fact, the congregation was formed only one day after Lawton was settled. The congregation donated half of the construction cost while the regional church body donated the other half. The church was used unaltered until 1946 when an educational and recreational annex was completed on the south side. Even with the addition, the congregation outgrew the building and in 1956, it was sold to the Centenary Methodist Church of Lawton. It is now used as a wedding chapel.
