The orginal Lawton High School was built in 1909-1910. It has had a couple of additions in the 20s and 30s. By 1951 Lawton had over 6000 students. A new high school was constructed in 1954 and the Lawton High School became the junior high. In 1957, it was officially renamed Central Junior High. In 2008 the building began to transition over to the new city hall. Much of the original architecture and floor plan was preserved.
Th building is a Classical Revival architecture with massive Ionic columns and triangular pediments. There is a massive copper dome on top which served as a landmark for aircraft for years.
The WPA Annex, Cafeteria, and Gymnasium have all been demolished. the original courtyard is now the front entrance of the City hall on the east side.
