Hranický rabín a náboženský myslitel
Navštevoval ješivu v Kojetíne u proslulého rabína Mosese Perlse a v Novém Meste nad Váhom u Gabriela Engelsmanna, s jehož nevlastní dcerou Zartl se oženil. Roku 1830 se stal rabínem v rodném Prerove a funkci zastával ctyri roky. Potom odešel do Hranic, kde byl rabínem v letech 1834–1840. Práve v této dobe prudce rostl pocet židovských obyvatel v Hranicích, což vytvárelo predpoklady pro postupné prolamování pout ghetta a pocátky židovského továrního podnikání. V Hranicích predevším v soukenictví a lihovarnictví. Z Hranic prešel roku 1840 do Boskovic. V tomto meste zastával funkci rabína až do své smrti. Po rezignaci moravského zemského rabína Samsona Raphaela Hirsche v ríjnu 1851 byl provizorne jmenován c. k. místodržitelským úradem Moravského markrabství v Brne zemským rabínem na Morave s oduvodnením, že provádecí predpisy z roku 1754 již zastaraly. Také v tomto duležitém úrade zustal až do své smrti. Aby mohl zvládnout povinnosti na obou rabinátech, premístil úrad moravského zemského rabinátu z Mikulova, kde sídlil více než 200 let, do Boskovic.
Jako zemský rabín úspešne bránil práva židovské komunity v období obnovy absolutismu po ukoncení revolucních bourí v letech 1848–1849. Placzek byl jedním nejvýznamnejších predstavitelu poslední generace ortodoxních moravských talmudistu a vyhledávaným a respektovaným judaistickým pedagogem. Byl v písemném styku s predními rabíny své doby a jeho komentáre jsou dosud citovány v odborných diskusích znalcu Talmudu. Byl zásadním odpurcem liturgických reforem judaismu, ale snažil se tlumit konflikty mezi jednotlivými frakcemi talmudistu, které kolem reforem propukly. He attended Yeshiva Kojetin the famed Rabbi Moses Perls and in Nove Mesto nad Vahom by Gabriela Engelsmann with whose stepdaughter Zartl married. In 1830 he became a rabbi in his native Prerov a post he held for four years. Then he went to the border where he was a rabbi in the years 1834-1840. It was at this time sharply increased the number of Jewish inhabitants in the borders, which created the conditions for a gradual breaking of the bonds of the Jewish ghetto and the beginnings of the factory business. In Hranicích especially in drapery and distilleries. From 1840 Borders went to Boskovic. In this city, he served as rabbi until his death. Placzek was one of the most important representatives of the latest generation of Moravian Orthodox Talmudic a popular and respected teacher judaistickým.
