The references to the various parts of the master plan for the Howard Peak Greenway Trails System can be confusing. The Howard Peak Greenway Trails System is the city approved and city funded plan to circle the metropolitan area of San Antonio, TX with connecting hike and bike trails along San Antonio area's major creek systems so the city parks will be interconnected. The Salado Creek, with some of its larger tributary creeks, are part of this greenway trail system.

This portion of the North Salado Creek Greenway is anchored at Blanco Road where the Phil Hardberger Park is located. This section of the overall greenway belt connects from Blanco Road northward to Huebner Road. There is another trailhead at Huebner Road that will be expanded onward as more funding is appropriated in coming years. For now, the northward reach of the greenway from Hardberger Park is completed and in use.

The parking lot at the end of Voelcker Lane connects paths into Hardberger Park and paths of the Salado Creek Greenway. In the middle of the Voelcker Lane parking lot a cluster of directional guidance signage, a group of toilet facilities, and a North Salado Creek Greenway You Are Here map for the southern reach from Blanco Road to West Avenue is located.

The first You Are Here sign for this northern reach from Hardberger Park is at the beginning of the north reach trail heading toward Huebner Road. The hike and bike path is a 12 foot wide concrete pathway that follows the meandering of the Salado Creek from this sign to its terminus at Huebner Road, about 2 miles away.

This second sign is another You Are Here map posted at a bend in the Salado Creek pathway where Voelcker Lane ends as a major street of the surrounding suburb neighborhood, but offers an entrance onto the greenway path. The trail is closed off at the "dead end" part of Voelcker Lane but the hike and bike path turns with the creek and continues on toward Huebner Road. I assume this billboard is placed here because this offers an easy entrance into the North Salado Creek Greenway pathway and this You Are Here sign orients the newcomer to where they are upon entering the trail. Turning right takes you to Hardberger Park. Turning left takes you along the path to Huebner Road. This auxiliary You Are Here map also serves as a flora and fauna informational board.
Location Name: Auxiliary You Are Here map about halfway along the North Salado Creed Greenway, Blanco Rd. to Huebner Rd. section of trail way.
