This dedicated tree resides in front of the former Lassen County Courthouse on Lassen Street.

Located at the base of one of the large trees that line Lassen Street on the north side is a conrete monument with a small plaque that reads:

THOMAS TUCKER
DIED IN FRANCE
SEPT 28, 1918

I did a little research online regarding Thomas Tucker and discoverd a newspaper article that highlights his life a little and reads:

...Tucker, a Native American, was the first Lassen County soldier to die in action in World War I. He died in France in 1918.

I located Tucker's grave on FindaGrave.com. He was a Private First Class of L Company, 363rd INF Regt, 91st INF DIV.

The former Lassen County Courthouse was erected in 1917, so this memorial tree fits the timeframe here.
