Bien que je conduise devant ce Quonset Hut presque tous les jours depuis plus d'une décennie, ce n'est qu'après avoir pris connaissance de cette catégorie de waymarks et d'en avoir visité un à quelques kilomètres de chez moi que je l'ai remarqué.
Il faut admettre qu'il est bien amélioré et qu'il ne ressemble pas beaucoup au hangar de tôle qu'il fut jadis ou aurait pu être.
Ce Quonset Hut est sur un coin de rue et ce sont principalement les 2 côtés donnant sur rue qui ont été modifiés pour en faire un édifice commercial attrayant avec électricité, gaz et eau courante.
Une des extrémités, sur le Chemin de Saint-Jean, a reçu des coins et une partie de la façade en maçonnerie, des portes et de grandes fenêtres vitrées, et, un parement métallique avec un fini plus attrayant que la tôle ondulée d'origine. Sur le côté donnant sur la rue Sainte-Rose, on constate que le travail de maçonnerie a été fait pour présenter un coin symétrique avec 2 fenêtres qui semblent identiques. Un peu plus loin sur le côté, une entrée vers un autre commerce a été aménagée avec un portique en maçonnerie, une porte vitrée et du parement métallique. Un peu plus loin encore, 2 petites portes, genre porte de garage, ont été aménagées. Ce côté se termine avec l'entrée de gaz naturel.
En observant l'autre extrémité, on voit qu'elle est finie d'un parement métallique peint pour améliorer la finition. Et il semble y avoir une petite cheminée.

Although I have been driving in front of this Quonset Hut almost every day for over a decade, it was only after having read this category of waymarks and having visited one a few kilometers from my house that I noticed it.
We have to admit that it is much improved and does not look much like the metal hangar that is once was or could have been.
The Quonset Hut is on a street corner and it is mainly the 2 sides on the street that were modified to make it an attractive commercial building with electricity, gas and running water.
One end, on Chemin de Saint-Jean, received masonry corners and facade, glass doors and wide windows, and a metal cladding with a more attractive finish than the original corrugated sheet . On the side facing the street, we see that the masonry work was done to present a symmetrical corner with 2 windows that look identical. A little further to the side, an entrance to another commerce was fitted with a portico in masonry, a glass door and metal siding. A little further, two small doors, garage door type, were fitted. This side ends with the natural gas installation.
By observing the other end, we see that it is finished with a painted metal siding to improve the finish. And it also looks like ther is a small chimney.
