The statute depicts a young man who is a worker for the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) during the Great Depression. Young man is wearing trousers, boots and a broad brimmed hat but no shirt and he has an ax in his hand. The the life-size bronze statue was sculpted by Sergey Kazaryan. The statue is part of a series of statues being placed around the country to honor the legacy of the CCC worker. This particular statue at Roaring River State Park is the 61st in the series placed, and was dedicated on May 4, 2013, the 80th anniversary of the founding of the CCC.

On the base of the statue is a plaque inscribed:
