This facility opened to the public in November 2002 and was dedicated by Governor Schweiker and then DCNR Executive-Deputy Secretary John Plonski on the 12th of that month, which replaced a 900 square-foot job trailer that was used for 22 years when,in 1980 the original park office was destroyed by fire. It still stands today.

The new Park Office and Visitor Center brought to the State Park its first Flush Toilets, therefore, a waste-water disposal plant had to be constructed as part of the construction of the facility. Also included in the project were new public toilets that will open to the public even when the office building is closed, Later after this facility opened, modern wash houses were placed in the Campground, Cabin Area, and Beach. Modern Restrooms were placed throughout the Day-Use area, and rustic toilet facilities were rebuilt at Canyon Vista that were made accessible to those with physical disabilities. This was done as a part of DCNR's Growing Greener, which enhanced several comfort facilities throughout the state.

The 4,300-square-foot building was constructed using energy-efficient design and recycled materials including: tile made from recycled aviation glass; recycled carpet and linoleum; recycled steel studding; a ground-source geothermal heating system; photo cells and occupancy sensors so electricity is not wasted; and recycled cement board for the exterior siding and trim.

The new office and visitor center contains 1,680 square feet of public space that includes a multipurpose room for park programs and environmental education.

Worlds End State Park is located in a narrow S-shaped valley of the Loyalsock Creek. The first road through the valley was high on the steep slope of the mountain and the precipitous journey made early travelers think they were at the "end of the world." The park was erroneously called "Whirls End" at one time, but local interest spurred the official renaming as Worlds End State Park in 1943.

Visitors are drawn to the park's Canyon Vista and High Rocks overlooks, which both provide outstanding views of the Endless Mountains region. The 780-acre park also is popular for its cabin rentals, camping, fishing, swimming, picnicking, kayaking, hiking, hunting, snowmobiling and cross country skiing.
