This Nashville/Davidson County history marker is to the northeast of Nashville in a area generally called Old Hickory or Jacksonville. In the early 1900's, a powder plant was built here to make gunpowder for the Allied troops in World War I. Though the plant was never completed, it was manufacturing 750,000 of gunpowder every day.
The sign is located at the corner of Burnett Rd and Swinging Bridge Rd. across the Cumberland River.
