The FindAGrave entry for Ida "Ruth" Granger Higgs has pretty complete biographical information on Ruth. She was born on 12 February 1912 near Simco, which is a ghost town on Missouri route 76 east of Longview in McDonald County. She was educated in the small town of Rocky Comfort (also on 76 in McDonald Co.)

Her first husband, in 1946, was Larry "Red" Miller. The biography does not mention the year that he died. Ruth remarried in 1962 to another redhead, Chester "Buck" Higgs. (Apparently everyone in the area went by nicknames back then!) They ran a farm near Wheaton. She later worked at a department store in Cassville. She was the church pianist for decades at New Hope Baptist Church in rural Barry County.

She died on 25 November 2014 at over 102.5 years old.
