At the time the marker was placed, Garner was Vice President, and the home was still here. The THC Atlas indicates that this marker has been on its back for at least eight years, and the house gone for that amount of time, too.

In this house, John Nance Garner, Vice-President of the United States since 1933, was born November 22, 1869. Member Texas Legislature 1898-1902. Member of the United States Congress since 1903. Speaker of the House, 1931 Erected by the State of Texas 1936
