"The circa 1960, bunker-like building is associated with Cold War Era military history. Designed for temporary use during an emergency, the building is believed to be one of the first of eight first generation nuclear fallout shelters operated by the Office of Civil Defense. In service as the Region 6 Operations Center until 1969, the partially buried Quonset Hut appears as an elongated rectangular earthen mound." (from (

The NRHP Form may be found at (

This is a secure facility and you will need to present identification and have your car inspected (open hood, look under with a mirror) before entry is allowed. There are several other Waymarks on the site you may also want to visit. I was also asked by a security guard why I was photographing the building. When I explain it was a NRHP, he was fine with the photos. (
