The Alszauberbrunnen was designed by sculptor Karl Philipp and unveiled on 5 June 1932. Its location on the Elterleinplatz is located directly above the vaulted river bed of the eponymous Als. The figures of the Schrammel Quartet were melted down during the Second World War in 1943. In 1981, they were recast on the basis of plaster models by Heribert Rath (1924-2007) and unveiled again in 1982 by the city council Helmut Zilk.
In a round stone basin with a central base standing on it Putten (sculpture of a child) rises. Around the base of the four bronze seated figures of Schrammelmusic musician Johann Schrammel, Paul Fiebrich, Alfred Rondorf and Willi Strohmayer are arranged. The fountain is a monument to the "water of Als, Viennese music and Hernalser Alsegger wine" and is a listed building.
