All Aboard! - Ohiopyle, Pennsylvania

This wayside is one of five in a series at the new Park Office/Visitor Center of Ohiopyle State Park. This series focuses on the various methods of time of visiting Ohiopyle State Park
All Aboard!
The National Road became a local road when trains replaced wagons traveling west. Rail travel to and from Ohiopyle became so important that both the B&O and Western Maryland rail lines built stations along the Yough's steep slopes. Railroads brought in tourists from Pittsburgh seeking fresh air, thus beginning the first resort era in Ohiopyle.
