The tower has a round clock mounted on two sides, the east and west sides, looking up and down Main Street. The west facing clock looks at a large coniferous tree, while the east one looks toward the Montana Community Banks Inc. bank. Not wishing to be overly disparaging, but we can't help but wonder if the location of the clock was chosen to aid in preventing the local bankers from missing any more coffee breaks.
The tower itself is a tapered, four sided structure with openings on the north and south sides exposing a trio of bells. The tower is clad in cedar shakes and stands upon an eight to ten foot tall base covered in large flagstones. Altogether this is a nice looking clock/bell tower and makes a nice addition to the neighborhood.
Now we wonder if the bells might be connected to the clock and set to chime at 10 AM and 2 PM. The clock, BTW, was working when we visited, but was an hour slow. Potentially bad news for caffeine addicted bankers.
At the entrance to Main Street west off Highway 93 is a large log welcome arch, very impressive. This clock/bell tower is just west of that arch.
