George A. Spiva was a successful businessman in Joplin. He was involved with many different businesses and industries in Joplin. He served as the president of the local Chamber of Commerce. He'd financed this Park in memory of his father George N. Spiva.
The statue is a life-size bronze of George A Spiva sitting on a bench. The statue was created in 2002 and was created by sculptor, Mischell Riley.
