This coat of arms, which is very simplified version of Emperor's CoA from House of Habsburg belongs probably to Matthias (but this version was used by Emperors from Ferdinand I to Maria Theresa). Coat of arms comprises simple shield with tinctures of Austria and Burgundy, Imperial double headed Eagle crowned by Imperial crown and surrounded by Order of the Golden Fleece. Interesting is also mistake of CoA sculptor, where Burgundy part of the shield is too simplified (without red margin and with incorrect number of strips). The same mistake is visible on the CoA at Velvary' Prague Gate.
Monumental Town Hall of Royal Town Velvary, a Baroque building with Renaissance core, is located in main town's public space - Námestí Krále Vladislava (King Vladislav Square). The Town Hall was constructed in several phases - the first floor was erected by Renaissance Italian architect Santin Malvazione in 1618 and stonemason H. J. Bragatius de Serponto. The work was interrupted by Thirty Years' War until 1722-1723, when Jan Wolf finished the second floor. Current Baroque face building acquired during radical reconstruction by Ignác Jan Nepomuk Palliardi in 1793-1797.
