SCHIFFERDECKER PARK, NW. corner Seventh St. and Schifferdecker Ave., consists of 160 acres of rolling prairie and woodland. In it are a zoo, and 18-hole golf course, a clubhouse. – Missouri: A Guide to the "Show-Me" State, 1941, Joplin section, pg. 239 .
The park remains the same size and has several playgrounds, a museum complex, pool, golf course, and many other facilities however it no longer has a zoo.
