The 911 Memorial is placed on the south side of the Thompson Falls Rural Fire Department; located at 1811 Main Street West.

On the 10th anniversary of 911, firefighters across American placed memorials honoring the 343 firefighters who died instantly when the Twin Towers collapsed on September 11, 2001. There were also 60 police officers and 8 paramedics who lost their lives.

On display in this 911 memorial are pieces of granite and glass recovered from the World Trade Center North Tower. Also included is a Cross cut from a steel beam by a rescue worker at Ground Zero.

The names of the freighters who died on 911 are inscribed on a plaque at the memorial. On one of the pieces of granite is a plaque in memory of Craig J. Miller, Master Special Officer: US Secret Service who also lost his life on 911.

Standing at the memorial is a statue of a firefighter, donated to the Thompson Falls Rural Fire by Empire Building and Ace Hardware, and an eagle. Commemorative pictures and information are also installed in the memorial kiosk.

Transcription:
"Fireman's Prayer"

When I am called to duty, God
whenever flames may rage,
give me the strength to save some life
Whatever be its age.
Help me to embrace a little child
before it’s too late,
or some older person
from the horror of that fate.
Enable me to be alert
and hear the weakest shout,
and quickly and efficiently
to put the fire out.
I want to fill my calling
and give the best in me,
to guard my neighbor
and protect his property.
and if according to my fate
I am to lose my life,
Please bless with your protecting hand
my children and my wife.
