The Old Kerosene Store was built in 1884 as a location to store dangerous goods i.e kerosene, which was used as a lighting fuel in the nineteenth century, until it was replaced by gas and then electricity.
Between 1919 and the late 1960's the Kerosene Store was used by the Harbour and Lights Department. It was used as the Department's shipwrights shed and store and the area around it was used as the main buoy yard. Since then it has been used as an art gallery, the building is now known as the Kidogo Arthouse
