Donations are accepted at this mid-sized museum. It has a large collections of artifacts from
- Pre-settlement era: Native American artifacts including a lot of arrow heads, pottery, beads, etcetera
- Early-settlement era: ancient tools, etcetera
- Civil War era: including guns, uniforms, etcetera
- Through the World War I era: including guns, posters, etcetera
- Through World War II: including old play bills, posters, guns, uniforms, etcetera
- And lots more: pocket watches, lunch boxes, minerals and rocks (including a huge single quartz crystal weighing 1250 pounds!), a string of different sized models of International Harvester tractors all from 1944, buttons, a large collection of glassware (many pieces over 100 years old), and on and on.
Where the museum is scant is that there is not a lot of interpretative information along with the collections -- just an occasional card with a bit of information on some of the stuff. But whole shelves of stuff have no signs or data. And since it is entirely self-guided, one may leave with a lot of questions about what things were or when they were used in this area, etc. Perhaps the attend can answer some of those questions for you.
