According to FindAGrave, Richard W. Shipley was born in 1834 in Hamilton County, TN and took his life for unknown reasons in 1909. There is a lot more information in the (oddly enough) Barry County Rootsweb page, even though this cemetery is in McDonald County (and 3.5 miles from the border with Barry County, not in sight of it). His headstone is a simple flattish rock inscribed with R. W. Shipley. Note that the Rootsweb article has many inconsistencies. If he was born in 1834 and died in 1909, then how is that 86 years old?? Was he really 76 years old? Or was he born in 1824?
