La bataille des plaines d’Abraham (13 septembre 1759) est un moment décisif de la guerre de Sept Ans et de l’histoire du Canada. Une force d’invasion britannique, menée par le général James Wolfe, bat les troupes françaises dirigées par le marquis de Montcalm et les oblige à céder la ville de Québec aux Britanniques. Les deux commandants en chef meurent de blessures subies lors de la bataille. Les Français ne reprennent jamais la ville et perdent la Nouvelle-France en 1760. À la fin de la guerre, en 1763, la France cède aux Anglais plusieurs colonies, dont le Canada.
The Battle of the Plains of Abraham (13 September 1759) was a pivotal moment in the Seven Years’ War and in the history of Canada. A British invasion force led by General James Wolfe defeated French troops under the Marquis de Montcalm, leading to the surrender of Québec to the British. Both commanding officers died from wounds sustained during the battle. The French never recaptured Québec and effectively lost control of New France in 1760. At the end of the war in 1763 France surrendered many of its colonial possessions — including Canada — to the British.
