This ghost bike outside Barkly Square, Brunswick, is in memory of local cyclist Alberto Paulon.

Alberto was knocked into the road when a motorist open a parked car's door on Sydney Road, Brunswick. He then fell into the path of a truck that was just behind him and died at the scene.
A week later over 1000 cyclists took part in a ride along Sydney Road in memory of Alberto.
The Melbourne authorities have in the past removed some ghost bikes, but since there is such a large cycling community in Brunswick this ghost bike may well remain as a memorial.
