As described by the CGS in 1933 (although originally monumented by the US Geologic Survey):
"IN AUSTIN.
ON THE SOUTHWEST CORNER OF THE BUILDING FORMERLY OCCUPIED BY U.S. POST OFFICE, AT THE CORNER OF SIXTH AND COLORADO STREETS AND FACING COLORADO STREET."
The 1933 description is still a good reference for locating this station, especially since decent handheld GPS readings are difficult to come by due to interference from nearby buildings. Please note that 6th Street is sometimes referred to by its new name: "Old Pecan Street", so the station is basically at the NE corner of Old Pecan and Colorado Streets, on the side of the building facing West (Colorado Street).
Its associated NGS Data Sheet's currently posted coordinates are, however, still pretty well off (as is to be expected, it happens all the time with older benchmarks). As of the time of this waymark posting, the NGS reports the station at "N 30 16 06.63 W 097 44 40.17" which points to the middle of a street (6th St) ~160 ft West of the benchmark in question. The actual coords -- as measured within 20-25' accuracy and 20+ reading averages -- are "N 30° 16.112 W 97° 44.639".
The station was recovered in fair to poor condition (due to several markings/scratches on the disk over time): see posted waymark's gallery images for BM close-up and setting details. FYI, additional pictures have also been posted on the
