marker "On May 9, 1996, Broome County Parks and Recreation crews uncovered human bones in this field. The remains are the last traces of the pauper cemetery associated with the nearby Poor Farm (c. 1831-1930). This plaque, dedicated in August of 1996, serves as a reminder of the working poor of Broome County."

The Poor Farm is now SUNY Broome Community College. The last building from the Poor Farm was recently torn down. (visit link)
