The church of St Mary the Virgin in Walsham-le-Willows is Grade I listed and entirely of Perpendicular design having been built in the C14th and C15th. It consists of a nave with north and south aisles, a chancel, a north porch and a vestry at the north side of the chancel, and a west tower. The interior was restored in 1878.

The War Memorial has been erected at the north side of the church tower, between the tower and the main entrance gate off The Causeway and adjacent to the North Porch. It is of white marble, a slender shaft surmounted by a Celtic Cross on a round chamfered base on a two-step plinth. The main dedication is on the base with the names, in year order, on the shaft. Three extra names have been added on the base to the right of the dedication, and the letter 'S' and the dates and names of the fallen of WWII have been added to what was a memorial to those who died in WWI when it was initially created.

The dedication reads:-

                  In Honoured and Grateful
                         Memory of
               the Men of Walsham-le-Willows
