Holy Family was originated on June 13, 1856 by Pittsburgh Catholic Diocese Bishop Michael O' Connor. He also appointed his brother, James as the first pastor, who later became the bishop of Omaha, NE. The present church was built in 1907. The School, located behind the church (now named Christ the Divine Teacher School due to the closing of several outlying schools) and the present rectory was built in 1982.
