In Boston at Bullfinch Place is the television studios building for WHDH Channel 7 and WLVI Channel 56.

The building is visible from City Hall Plaza, to the north. It is by the intersection with Sudbury Street.

The building is a red brick building with strong light stone/concrete horizontal lines visible. The building is built such that it overhangs Bullfinch Place, which is more of a walkway than a true driving road. the entrances to this building are from Bullfinch Place.

Today, not much local programming is done by local television stations. What is produced is mostly news, and Channel 7 is one of the major news providers - though they compete with several other television and cable programs. In the 60s-70s, there was a notable childrens program called 'Major Mudd,' which featured a character who was an astronaut and had both a live portion and showed cartoons and 'Three Stooges' episodes. Channel 56 provides news from the same news department.

WHDH is an affiliate of the NBC Network. They were an affiliate of CBS until 1994, when Boston WBZ, Channel 4, changed from NBC to CBS. WLVI became part of the CW network when it was, first, the WB Network.

WHDH started in March 22, 1982 as WNEV-TV. Back there were more original programming. In addition to 'Major Mudd' mentioned above, there was 'Ready to Go,' a childrens program hosted by Broadway singer Liz Carroway, Talk of the Town, and Studio 7.

Currently, both stations are owned by Sunbeam Television. WHDH is the largest NBC affiliate not owned by NBC.
