The first church in town was founded by Adin Ballou, and built with a gift from George Draper. Eben and George Draper offered to remove the Ballu church and designed and built the current church in memory of their mother and father. Designed by Edwin J Lewis with Robert Wilson of Pawtucket as contractor. The project cost $75,000 and took less than 1 year to build. The dedication took place on September 15, 1898.
