The Lempe Building at 214 E. Fourth is a taller and more monumental building, but also of Carthage stone. Once a saloon, it retains the original name on its roof line entablature. The company also had a brewery in Carthage.

– National Register Nomination

The building is in very good condition and is now used as a Hispanic grocery store.
