This statue of General Neidhardt von Gneisenau is one of three statues honoring the leading Prussian Generals in the war against Napoleon. (The other two statues feature Generals Yorck and Blücher).
The larger than life bronze statue shows the general, holding a sword and pointing forward with his right arm. The Statue, designed by sculptor Christian Daniel Rauch was dedicated in 1855. The pedestal was destroyed in World War II, but the statue survived. |
