Endwell is a hamlet in the town of Union. The population given is close to the population for the Town of Union (census 2000, 56,298 people), Endwell having 11,446 at the 2010 census.
Union was settled after the Clinton-Sullivan campaign in the Revolution removed the Indians.
Endicott and Johnson City villages grew up with the Endicott-Johnson shoe factory. As IBM grew in Endicott, Endwell became the suburban bedroom community for the engineers and managers. The decline of manufacturing in the area has led to a decrease in the working age population, leaving the retirees who have not moved to sunnier spots.
Address: 44 Hooper Road and 3601 Watson Blvd.
