When this Waymarker moved to the area back in 2003, this church was still being used. In fact, the pastor, who also did carpentry work during the week, did a lot of remodeling on my home.
However, after that the church declined as folks preferred to attend the bigger Church of Christ in the town of Washburn, next to the bank. This church closed in 2004 or 2005 and has remained locked up since then. It is along Missouri State Secondary Route NN in Barry County.
Unfortunately, someone came along and stripped every bit of copper from the building and any appurtenances. Other than that, it looks good for not having had anything done on it for over 10 years. Except that it looks very forlorn, as so many abandoned buildings do. It looks more melancholy when driving by it than it does in my photos, which were taken more closely to the building.
