CITY PARK, two blocks west of the square, is a three-acre tract containing a wading pool for children and Big Spring, one of the largest springs in the southwestern area. – Missouri: A Guide to the "Show-Me" State, 1941, Tour 6, pgs. 437-438.

The park is now known as Big Spring Park and is well-maintained. Continues to have a wading pool. It has markers and memorials also located on its grounds.
