The Fortune of War was originally built in 1828 by former convict Samuel Terry. He arrived in Australia in 1800 after being convicted of the theft of 400 stockings and sentenced to transportation for seven years.
After serving his sentence Samuel moved from Parramatta to Sydney and became an innkeeper.
The pub was popular with sailors and troops in the 1800s.
The Fortune of War Hotel was rebuilt by the Tooth & Co brewery in 1921.
The bistro and kitchen are open daily from 11:30am till late.
