Three time capsules were buried around the boulder to be opened on Australia Day 2029, 2038 and 2088, the first on the bi-centenary of the founding of Western Australia and the others on the 150 and 200 year anniversary of settlement in Australia. The capsules are outside the local museum, the plaque on the front reads :-

Autralia's Bi-Centennial Year 1988
A Commemorative capsule was buried here
on Australia Day 26th January 1989
By the Chairman of
The City of Belmont Bi-Centennial Committee
Mr Fred Rae J.P. Hon Freeman of the City
This Capsule is to be opened in the year 2088
Australia's Tercentenary
The time capsule is set into the ground in front of the boulder
On one side of the rock is the capsule to be opened in 2038, while at the rear is the 2029 capsule and plaque
